What you say has merit, but IMHO the nurses and docs, etc, would tell you that their comrades are "the ones who most urgently need a vaccine.”

When you think about it, the mask issue needs a “view from outer space” perspective. If you were going to a planet which had oxygen in the atmosphere but the atmosphere had toxicity in it, what would you do to prepare to go there?

You would make a space helmet with an electrically powered gizmo to create a benign, comfortable atmosphere inside it. And that is where we are. With the caveats that you also want

• your own exhaust to be non-toxic as well.
• to handle sneezes as necessary,
• to be comfortable for hours of use at a time.
• to be able to converse normally while wearing it.

• And it has to be cheap enough to market to workers/employers everywhere.

Sounds doable to me. All the “electric gizmo" takes is battery-operated low-pressure blowers for the intake and exhaust filters - piece of cake.

Giant, clear plastic human hamster balls might work, or maybe enclosed electric scooters, preferably with radios and AC. I see a federal entitlement in the offing.
