why is this story appearing now when this happened in September of 2019?

I'll hazard a guess, just off the top of my head.

Theory #1: Put out there by the derp state to beat the drums of war with China. War with Russia didn't pan out for them, so move on to China. Any war serves the derp state purpose.

Not likely, as the heathen Chinee are currently in league with the WW derps. But possible.

Theory #2: Put out there by our guys to further make the heathen Chinee look like the devil, the purpose being to cut our domestic derps loose from China, thereby isolating China even further and taking a weapon out of derp hands.

This scenario seems more likely, if there is in fact a scenario at play here.

Asian Giant Hornets are native to China as well but most known for inhabiting rural parts of Japan.

IMHO the coronavirus panic is dying down so they need something else to panic the public. I *think* the New York Slimes was the first to write an article on this but I haven’t dug that far yet. Too busy drinking beer.
