Davis is a hard-core communist who purchased at least two of the guns used in the August 1970 attack on a California courtroom, and the murder of the judge, Harold Haley, in an effort to force the release of another murderer, George Jackson.
She was a fugitive until captured, but was acquitted by a jury that included at least one other hard-core communist.
