Well, maybe so. I say just go ahead and shut the nation down until the elections and let all hell break loose. A nation divided against itself can not stand. We’re headed that way VERY quickly. It is beginning.

I need more caffeine as I first read this as "In 1918 flu pandemic, Obama had second surge of cases after lifting restrictions ". SNORT!

In the real world this is a concern. Viruses do mutate and the 1919 pandemic had multiple hits from 1917 on. The first hit did not have nearly the attack on the youth that its later versions had!

I noticed in the article that one person was quoted as saying that things have certainly changed in the last 100 years, but I get the impression that the Media Party is still using the second wave of the Spanish Flu as a means of trying to scare people today into wanting to continue lockdowns. And really, it really is ridiculous to make comparisons of what happened then with today’s given advancements in medicine and knowledge.

That’s certainly not saying that it could never happen again, but obviously perspective is not the media’s business concerning all of this, isn’t it?

Lately, I’ve seen several articles speculating about why the 1918 Flu has generated a lot of recognition or even memorials. I think it was because, as terrible as the flu was, it was seen as just another disease that plagued the population, so it was taken in stride. I’ve done a lot of family history research for the last 40 years, and have found only 1 person in my family who died during the 1918 Flu, but I have found 10 relatives who died of tuberculosis from 1894 to 1930.

And they knew about masks, social distancing, hand washing, etc.? It’s not a valid comparison.

The MSM is pushing stories like this in an attempt to hold onto the economy crushing lockdown until the election, when they think it can be used as an issue to defeat pres. Trump. Just a few flaws with the Leftist’s “thinking” as usual.
- Business owners and employees crushed by the lockdown are not going to be happy to live on the crumbs provide by the State as a replacement for their freedom and opportunity.
- After 6 weeks of lockdowns, people are weary of the forced house arrest for no crime.
- As Spring moves toward Summer, it will become increasingly difficult to force people to wear masks. Imagine a nice 90 degree June day with high humidity and you have a sweat-soaked, germ laden mask you have to breath thru.
- As the heat rises, peoples’ tempers will rise.

This caught my eye...
That heralded a “double hump” in flu cases, which surged after a massive Armistice Day celebration Nov. 11 and made December 1918 almost as deadly a month as October.
I've been using the time provided by the pandemic to do more genealogical research and I found this item in the Creston Review (British Columbia, Canada) dated a few days after the November 1918 armistice:
Last Sunday was officially set apart as a day for national thanksgiving to an all-wise Providence that the war has been brought to a victorious conclusion for Britain and her allies.

Due to the fact that the provincial influenza regulations forbid public gatherings of any kind indoors Creston Valley's effort in this line had to go by the board -- for the which thanks be given.

I find it interesting that Creston, BC, Canada, part of the British Commonwealth, cancelled it's armistice celebration but Omaha, Nebraska went ahead and held a massive celebration.

When we get a first real wave then we should start reading about how second waves are possible.

First waves are always possible anytime, and as always the sick, weak and frail need to be isolated, and not the other way around. The strong, working able and asymptomatic, save life’s by going to work, not by cowering in lockers like snowflakes, this is how society has always been.

Second surges happen because the first surge was not allowed to complete.

Spanish Flu killed. WuFlu is generally so mild it goes unnoticed.

Wuflu will resurface, just like all the rest. More will be immune. Hospitals will be equipped. Treatments will be ready even if a vaccine is not.

There’s a lot of us boomers entering the vulnerable stage. This is nature’s way, imho

Perhaps China and the Democrats already have the new strain all set to release. Maybe Sept? Gotta lay the groundwork now.

We're told that comparing the Flu to COVID-19 is comparing "apples and oranges." It's equally apples and oranges comparing Spanish Flu to COVID. These BS articles are meant to scare elected officials and heath officials (they have no political agenda!😒) into extending these unconstitutional lockdowns until at least...oh, I don't know...NOVEMBER! All we're doing is prolonging this. We need to develop an immunity to this. Locking ourselves down is only delaying this. As the testing ramps up, more and more people are being shown to have the COVID-19 antibody. This means they had CV, got better, and now have immunity.

These lockdowns are a Liberals wet dream!

Unless you successfully kill the virus - either by vaccine or successful quarantine or the virus evolves to an innocuous state - you will ALWAYS get a 2nd wave (and third wave).

That was my argument against these lockdowns from the beginning because containment was impossible at that point and we’re only forestalling the inevitable.

flattening the curve was a lie

The process that develops herd immunity is not a pretty sight. Many will die first and some will die just when it was thought that the crisis was over. Yet regardless of the efforts of pompous politicians, their draconian regulations and pronouncements, the process will continue because people have to live. That means interacting for food, shelter and solace. Simply cannot isolate and “protect” the vulnerable forever. Either a safe and effective vaccine is made available or the vulnerable will ultimately sicken and many will die. Just the way it is.
