Oh I don’t think it’s about the Spirit balking at all in the sense he’s holding back, rather as has always been, men have questioned and determined what has been preserved and is verbally and plenarily inspired, and infallible in ‘all things’ relating to God and the desire to be righteous, often self-righteous, about such. In doing so they get in their own way of letting the Spirit have His way. Thus with the result..”one can’t make up ones mind”.......stalemate.
