Singers tend to receive a bad reputation when it comes to rock and roll. Many people think that these guys just have a lucky break by making a living screaming into a microphone. On the other side, there have been many vocalists that have really shown the time and effort that goes into singing rock and roll.
A lot of people tend to forget that the voice is an instrument unto itself, and all of these singers utilize that instrument to its fullest potential. These songs not only showcase the intensity of the person's singing, but also the unique control of their range. Some of these tunes don't even feature one vocalist, but a vocal team working in conjunction with each other to create something truly spectacular.
Above all, these performances show these singers as fully functioning musicians, who put their heart and soul into their craft to make magic come out of their vocal cords. Sure, they might not be playing a guitar or tearing up the drums, but the sheer power coming from the back of their throat will make your hair stand up on end.

Who, everyone on the list? :)
His live concert video in Japan is one of my favorites.
If were leaving rock, I'd consider Joni Mitchell
Well, I didn’t see the “Rock and Roll” qualifier. Just went with songs I thought were vocally significant to me. Thanks though!
From Ichykoo Park to I Believe To My Soul (live), to I Don’t Need No Doctor (also live), to Black Coffee,...Wow!
Yes, Oh! Darling is incredible. Breaks my heart to hear Paul’s almost non-existent voice now, bless him. His music has given me great joy through the years.
Guys like ol’ Bob aren’t known for their singing... they are known for their voice though and how they use it to convey their stories. Hendrix, Tom Waits and Tom Petty, to an extent, fall into the same category.
Hum... Fagen and Becker. Sound like a couple of “Steely” eyed killers to me.
We used to call him “Springboard” because he made such a big splash with “BTR”.
Isn’t Because actually Moonlight Sonata backwards. I read somewhere that Lennon was playing around on the piano one day, and...
I remember the first time I heard Because. I was 15, Abbey Road had just been released. I can honestly say I was stunned and mesmerized and can still never hear the harmonies in that song without being awed.
Ball and Chain live at the Monterey Pop Festival. Janice made Mama Cass say, “Wow.” There is video of it!!
Another Thing Comin’ by Judas Priest. Rob Halford had some chops....
6. Crucify - Bloodgood (it's chilling to hear the lead singer singing as though he's King Herod and moving from pleading for Jesus' life to yelling Take Him!!)
5. You're All I Needed - Allies (kinda pop-rock, with Bob Carlisle as lead singer)
4. Morningstar - Petra (one of the first songs with Volz doing lead vocal, very much a 70's rock sound)
3. Your Will - Barren Cross (power ballad with the power being God's will making it mean a lot more)
2. Honestly - Stryper
1. Grave Robber - Petra (admittedly a mild rock)
Left out “White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane. Grace Slick could blow out your speakers.
Yes - Hold On. One can debate on the vocals, but the poetry certainly relates to today. Constitution screw up, shattering the dreams..

Lennon’s Twist and Shout is pretty amazing.
I was going to add Heart to the mix.
In the soul category, “The Love I Lost” by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes (Long version) is the absolute epitome of soul with Teddy Pendergrass belting it out.
Petra fan here too.
It is Finished is an absolutely incredible 3 minute sermon
