Read “Into Thin Air” by Jon Krakauer. The movie adaptation was just OK, the book is gripping. It’s a firsthand account of how weather, financial pressure, equipment failures, etc all came together to produce a tragedy that killed 8 climbers in a single day. The IMAX team was one of those on the mountain at that time, and displayed great skill and compassion as they assisted in rescue efforts.
Yes, great read. People on the mountain who had no business being there also played a huge part in the tragedy.
