Jacob Eason seemed to slump lower and lower on the family couch on Friday night as the second and third rounds of the NFL draft were conducted without anyone choosing him. Once projected as a first-rounder before he was given a mid-second-round grade, the former University of Washington quarterback watched as 74 names were called out on the draft's second day -- and none were his. ESPN had a camera trained on the Eason family at regular intervals of the four-hour draft proceedings. Jacob, casually dressed in a light blue T-shirt and black shorts, looked stunned, disappointed or angry, or all of the above, take your pick.

Ask Joe Montana, Tom Brady, or Dak Prescott- drafting a QB in the lower rounds gives you an edge, a chip on your shoulder that gives you a will to win.
I seemed to remember that Rodgers was past over a few times to. It worked out for him. Don’t think Lamar Jackson or Patrick Mahomes went early either.
Tom Brady was 6th Round...
“I seemed to remember that Rodgers was passed over a few times too. Dont think Lamar Jackson or Patrick Mahomes went early either.”
Rodgers was the 24th overall pick.
Mahomes was the 10th overall pick.
Jackson was the 32nd overall pick.
Russell Wilson went in the third round
Eason and Fromm both should have waited a year. Too late now.
That's assuming there is going to be college football this fall......I'm not so sure.
Montana was a 3rd rounder, Prescott was a 4th rounder, not exactly the lower rounds. The argument can be made that not going higher motivated them.
Brady, in the 6th round could be called a middle rounder.
The jury is still out as to whether Brady was the right QB for the system or just that good on his own.
How many top 10 picks have flamed out or just been total busts? Four of the top ten busts.
Ryan Leaf
Brian Bosworth
Andre Ware
Tony Mandarich
To round it out, some late round gems.
Brian Sipe 13th
Seth Joyner 8th
Tim Krumrie 10th
Dwight Clark 10th
Rod Martin 12th
Chris Hanburger 18th
Raymond Berry 20th
Sometimes the shiniest object is junk and sometimes what looks like junk is a diamond in the rough.
Colts need a young QB to groom for a couple years behind Rivers. This may be just the pick. If hes still around by then.
6'6” and 230 pounds.
As a freshman at Georgia, he came off the bench in the first game of the year and started every game after that.
The next year, Eason got hurt in the first game.
Jake Fromm replaced him. Fromm took Georgia to the national championship game, and Eason could not win his job back.
Eason transferred to U. Washington and played one year.
He was 8-5, but went 4-4 in his last eight games. He had 23 TDs - 8 Interceptions - 64.2% Completions - He rarely runs with the ball.
My guess - most NFL teams do not believe he will ever be a reliable starting QB at the professional level.
Amazing how few PAC-12 players got the call.
JAX went OG.
DET & INDY have Fromm, Eaton. If they want em.
Jets. Shake it up with Morgan.
We need Bears involved
Kellen Moore was the winningest college quarterback of all time 51 wins and 3 losses. He was undrafted free agent who spent his career mostly as a practice sqaud qb for the Cowboys. He is now their offensive coordinator.
So being the best in college does not mean you are going to have a career in the NFL.
The Cowboys took Season in the 4th round.
Minn
AZ
Seattle
Just had a run of quality picks. 130-133
Pitt
JAX
Raiders. Coming around again for Fromm
Uh....so what? There are hundreds of qbs out there. Why single him out? Bring back Dennis Dummitt!....Matt Leinert anyone? How about John David Booty(it’s Boo-Tay!)!
Whadaya know, Colts take Eason. I called it.
I typed this on my phone and it changed from Colts to Cowboys and Eason to Season.
