Toilet paper, cleaning products and now, elastic? Mask makers cope with unexpected COVID-19-related shortages as sewing machine demand jumps.
As shoppers scavenge to find toilet paper and other quarantine essentials, some crafters who are making protective masks said they struggle to find another necessary item: elastic.
With protection against COVID-19 spurring demand, hobbyists skilled in sewing have turned to making masks and are hunting down materials and sewing machines. Thats led to shortages of elastic and high demand for less pricey sewing machines and even the services of people who repair old machines.
Some maskers are using hair bands and ties for their masks. That will be the next shortage, along with ribbon, thread and machine needles.
Coronavirus CASE COMPLICATIONS
Broadway star Nick Cordero gets temporary pacemaker after leg amputation due to coronavirus
“It looks like he had some irregular heart-beating last night that scared them enough to want to do a temporary pacemaker in Nick’s heart...he has had these dips in his heart rate for a little while now....
... Last week, doctors had to amputate Cordero’s leg due to blood clotting and internal bleeding in his intestines. He had been given blood thinners to help with the clotting, but that only made his symptoms worse.
...Cordero entered an intensive care unit on March 31...
Who woulda thunk?
Nevertheless, I am ready for that too.....
