It doesn't kill all of its hosts making it much more effective that say, Ebola, which kills almost a 100% of the infected, which allows it to keep going to infect more.
The only possible defense against it is isolation and hopefully, vaccination - but remember, some viruses defy any attempt at finding a vaccine and all viruses mutate.
Which brings us to the issue of freedom: every one of us would fight to the death to overturn an overreaching, unconstitutional government EXCEPT when we, the governed recognize a natural and temporary emergency. You, know, like WWII or Hurricane Katrina, when a threat had to be stopped and it was going to take individual sacrifices to beat a common enemy. The trick is to reestablish freedoms after the threat is beaten, not throw our hands up and run around bellowing about lost freedoms - and then further spreading the disease.

We governed have the ability to recognize when an “emergency” is contrived to control the citizens. We have the ability to recognize when Uncle Sugar is cooking the books. We have the ability to make decisions regarding the health of our families.
That is your opinion, which you state as a fact. Look at Sweden, and then re-evaluate your opinion.
Sweden has no lock down, has bars, schools for younger children open, and has a death rate that is higher than some and lower than others, but they didn't wreck their entire economy to do it.
