Head of US’ pandemic vaccine group says he was demoted in retaliation

He claims political appointees bristled at his insistence on science.
Today, the former head of the agency responsible for rapid development of pandemic responses such as therapies and vaccines announced he would file a whistleblower complaint with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Rick Bright, who had led the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority until this week, says he was transferred to a different position because he insisted on funding scientifically valid vaccine and therapy research over the objections of political appointees at HHS.

But from snips people quoted on this thread, it sounds clear he knows what it is, and it is “unnatural” - (my word). Only question in my mind is (fortuitous) accident or deliberate.

Good thing I was sitting in the back, she never saw me sneak out. See, I always sign my name in lower case printing...as a favor to my readers. I figured out right there that I, with my independent, "marching to the beat of a different drummer" attitude would not be a good match with the Air Force. Darn, and I would have been great as a translator in a foreign embassy! Of course, that was back in the day when they could lie to you about where and what you would serve...so who knows?

When I was a kid reading Superman and Batman comics, Batman was NOT a dark character—that’s the new film adaptations.
I tell you the truth my parents were much tougher than my DI. Specifically my mom. DI Valdez and Walker couldn’t hold a candle to Mom. She raised 5 boys and 4 were in the military. My youngest brother didn’t serve and it shows.
