This statistic sagged without collapsing the last few days; then ticked back up a bit today, but did not quite return to previous levels. STILL, the basic pattern is intact.
DEATHS TODAY WERE OFF THE CHARTS, totaling 6,370 nationally. I think some jurisdictions (and NOT JUST NY) reclassified some previous deaths as COVID-19, and this level is an anomaly.
I actually think this process may have impacted yesterday's deaths somewhat too.
