‘Not saying no’: Mark Cuban ‘keeping the door open’ on third-party presidential bid

Businessman Mark Cuban hasn’t shut the door on a presidential bid.
Cuban, an investor who owns the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks and hosts the show Shark Tank, has floated a political career several times. During an interview on Fox News Sunday, Cuban was asked if he had given up on 2020 because many states have already closed their filing window for independent candidates. Cuban said that he hasn’t ruled out a presidential bid.
“Unique circumstances, you just never know, Chris,” Cuban said. “I never would have considered it prior to a month ago, but now things are changing rapidly and dramatically, so there’s different ways to get through those issues you mention. So I’m not saying no, but it’s not certainly something that I’m actively pursuing. I’m just keeping the door open.”
He later added, “As it is today, I’d say probably not, that it’s not going to happen. But again, so much can change. You just never know. This is not something we’ve seen before. This is obviously a unique set of circumstances, and so I’m just not going to say no. You just don’t know what can happen between now and November.”
It is not yet clear if Cuban will jump in the race. Joe Biden is the last Democratic candidate standing and will be the likely competitor to President Trump.
