Plant land mines. Not real ones - order some fake poop and glue it down in front of your house. Creatively done, they should give it a wide berth.
Or maybe some vomit or roadkill.
Or put a speaker in a shrub nearby and feed it a looping recording of coughing.
There are many creative ways to encourage compliance. :)
