"Reporting is a mess every day. It also lags by about a day and half."

Some of the CDC graphs are WAY behind. The one that shows new cases on a daily basis is updated WEEKS after the dates. In early March, the were showing 60-80 new cases per day. On about March 18, the graph would show that the figures from about March 11 forward were still incomplete, but the dates before that were presumably final. A couple of weeks later, those early March dates showed hundreds of new cases.

I would suggest not bothering with CDC data. They are often days behind, not accurate, nor corrected/updated.

Really, the best site(s) are the respective country/state wiki pages, where OCD autistics drill through arcane detailed gov't reports in a battle for the right to claim 'victory' among their fellow incel peers. Often times you'll see someone going back 2-3 days to edit/adjust a tally by one or two, and then of course roll that effect forward on the associated charts & graphs. That's some mighty fine obsession with detail ...

Secondly, CDC - for obvious reasons - is focusing on the USA. But, since the USA lags a handful of other countries - specifically Italy by 8 days - we can look to them to gain some insight as to infection/hospitalization/mortality patterns. (Note the key here is series aka trends not absolutes. If Italy has been under/over counting, it's ok as long as they've been consistently following that pattern.)

So, when we look to Italy's CV deaths stats and trace them over the last 18 days, what do we find? Surprise, we discover they topped out 9 days ago, and are now approx 43% off that top (525/919). [3/19-4/5/2020]

Just as a you don't have to be a weatherman to know which way the wind is blowing, so too the end game with CV. Some hold outs are displaying classic stages of negotiation - even anger - but soon enough comes depression, then resolution. Anyone taking an over/under on the number of FR handles that are going to be "retired"? LOL
