So you use the two together at the same time? The respirators are attached to the ventilators?

No. If a patient is on a ventilator, the air is being filtered as it is mechanically being delivered to the lungs.

A respirator is used alone. Think about a fireman, inside a burning house. He needs clean air in his lungs. His body can move the air (breathe) just fine, he just needs CLEAN air. His respirator does that.

2 different machines, 2 different functions.
