Ectopic, if I recall my health class correctly, would definitely be done currently. An implantation in the Fallopian tubes is life threatening for the mother, and a death sentence for the child - regardless of medical intervention for the child.

You are exactly right. I don't think there's ever been a time in U.S. history when the lifesaving removal of an ectopic pregnancy has been considered equivalent to an abortion: neither medically, no legally, nor morally.
