Surprises me the hospitals can’t have a ‘safe area’ where they could take non-covid emergencies separate from the ERs.

The Comfort’s role will be to provide emergency care for those with non-Covid-19-related illnesses in order to open up ICU beds for people infected with the coronavirus. And it is expected to begin receiving patients on Tuesday.
So, why not cardiac emergency pts?? I wonder what the criteria is to qualify as a USNS Comfort non-Covid19 ‘emergency’ patient?
That is what most of the tents are for. But there is simply no place to put them.
