Washington’s coronavirus death toll rises with new deaths in Pierce, Whatcom

Washington state has reported nearly 230 fatalities from coronavirus with deaths reported Wednesday in Pierce and Whatcom counties amid a statewide stay-home order that could be extended to limit the spread of the mystery virus.
Based on data from counties, at least 229 deaths have been linked to COVID-19 so far. The Department of Health’s website that logs confirmed cases and deaths has not reported updated numbers since last weekend because of ongoing technical issues, officials said.

PORTLAND, Ore. Another Oregonian has died of coronavirus, state health officials said Wednesday, as the statewide number of COVID-19 cases grows to 736.
The Oregon Health Department said that 19 people died from the virus as of 8 a.m. Wednesday.
The latest coronavirus death was a 70-year-old woman in Multnomah County who had underlying health issues. She tested positive for the virus on March 27 and died two days later.

At least 14 residents of the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home have tested positive for the coronavirus and at least four of them have died in what appears to be a significant and growing cluster of the virus in the St. John the Baptist Parish nursing home.
