Yes, youre right about that. I think the foot is missing on my machine, and so the cloth just kind of went all sorts of directions.
Anyway, my sewing machine is a really basic singer. I have my grandmas foot pedal one, I wonder if that would be harder

The trickiest part is the wire, at the nose/cheek bridge.

I sewed a felt *filter* into inside of model 1.0....works perfectly...no breathing issues, and can be washed all at once. I wouldn’t mind removable, though.
If you mean treadle, those are really hard to get used to. They start going backwards. You have to be skilled. We had one or two in home ec class when I was a kid.
