I work in an essential business. This may well pay for my big vacation in 2021. Either a cruise line or a a car trip to the Florida Keys.

I owe the IRS. A lot. My semi-adult children might get checks.

"But former tax officials and other experts say the administration is being too optimistic. They say the last time the government distributed relief money on a large scale - in the midst of the 2008 financial crisis and Great Recession - it took two to three months to get payments going."

Yeah - former lard-butts and bureaucrats. NOT Trump and Munchkin.

Let’s see...

2.2 trillion dollars.

If we used that money to pay down the national debt... of some $23 trillion dollars...

We’d have a new national debt of about $21 trillion dollars.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
(Yeah: fuzzy math).
...
If we were to create another stimulus program... for ... say... $21 trillion dollars....
.
and we used it to pay down the national debt...

...

We’d wipe out the national debt.
...
Tell that to the democrats, who’ll jump on the idea.

I’m retired and have no idea whether I’ll get a check. At any rate, I don’t need one; I have a decent retirement and my mortgage is paid off. If I do get a check, I’ll probably cash it, split up the amount, and give it to people I know who’ve been laid off or out of work because of the shut-downs.

When and if I get one (and I still have my job), my "Stimulus check" will go to my new Husqvarna 395XP with 32" bar ...
