I live in northwest - DuPage Co. Il. First time I've been out in 11 days.
I am normally out and about this time of day, mostly to go play golf.
Traffic is lighter than usual. Some manufacturing places parking lots are full some are closed down.
Went to Cent. DuPage Hosp - employee parking lots are full. The rest of the place is a ghost town. From what I could see from the circular driveway, the emergency room is empty and the emergency parking lot is empty.
The hospital connected indoor parking(3-4 stories) lot was mostly empty.
Drove over to Glen Oak Hosp. Same deal.. parking lot looks fuller than it is. there aren’t many parking spaces anyway, and not all spaces are filled. DR & EE lots are full. I couldn't see too well into the emergency room but I didn’t see anyone moving about or going in or out.
At Walgreens, I couldn’t find rubbing alcohol or masks but I found TP. I am wearing gloves while out of the house.
I used cash.(won't do that again if I don't have to) cashier licked her thumb to count out change. I gently called her on it. She said she’s an EMT and doesn’t believe the hype and said she has nothing(not sick) and I asked how does she know...crickets
chirping. I purell’d the money the nuked it in the microwave.
I'm jonesin for golf...

Interesting. Seems some areas have a lot of cv and others have little to none.
I listen to dispatch radio and fire has almost no calls. Figure FF are not going to medic calls, and hardly any traffic accidents as people aren’t driving much.

Just a dumb FYI. Ironing your dollars kills microbes.
And I learned this abt 30 years ago. One of dtrs friends became seriously ill and after being hospitalized for a blood infection she became germophobic. She’s ironed all her paper money since. She works at a bank. Started off out of high school as a teller. She’s a commercial real estate VP now. Still irons her personal dollars but gets a lot of ribbing from me. Not so much this month. I dug out my dollars and began ironing in Feb.

Empty parking lots (non-med personal) are because...no visitors allowed. Empty ERs because most hospitals are saying “unless it’s REALLY an emergency, don’t come here”. And an empty ER waiting room is because there are no visitors/drivers allowed in the hospital. If you take someone to the ER, they might get in, you won’t.
Sadly, although a lot of hospitals have said they’ll make exceptions for end of life situations, that is not always the case (which is why I promised my kids I would not go off the reservation...not even to buy 1.48 gas, dammit!)
