I didn’t let our kid follow the wizard stuff. white witchcraft against black witchcraft is still witchcraft. I was attacked constantly by the “at least they are reading” eye-rolling, disapproving soccer mom crowd. I didn’t try and stop anyone from the stuff but was harshly judged for not partaking.
I noticed an explosion in bookstores of real craft books after the harmless series. After the kiddies got through the “harmless” series there were plenty of harder spell books to quench their curiosity. In fact the hard stuff heavily outweighs anything else today.

Heard just now on radio Mayor shutting down playgrounds in New York. Hmmmmm.
MEanwhile, here in Houston, the mayor has had the public works department go around and take down all the bassetball hoops in all of the city parks. Shut. It. Down. Shutitdown!
