What makes me cautiously optimistic is that all countries in the plot, except for SK, show significant drops in deaths today. Could be an issue in the data. We'll have to see what tomorrow night's data shows.

Combating COVID-19 coronavirus

Coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) is most dangerous to those who are immunocompromised, those over 60, and those who have cardiovascular disease (including hypertension), diabetes, hepatitis B, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic kidney disease, and cancer. Since a vaccine may be 1-2 years away, if you test positive for or have symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 (low-grade fever, sore throat, cough, headache, loss of sense of smell, diarrhea), here is what I recommend in terms of treatment:

Prescription oral hydroxychloroquine or nitazoxanide: Click here.
Intravenous vitamin C, artesunate, curcumin (solubilized in cyclodextrin), and melatonin: Click here, here, here, here, and here.

Regarding prevention, wash your hands often, cough into your elbow, don’t touch your face, maintain social-distancing of 6 feet from others, and take vitamin D3 (click here). And to prevent others from getting sick, if you feel sick, stay home and call your doctor.

Comments from Dr. Thomas: For my own protection, in addition to taking 50,000 IUs of vitamin D3 once a week, I am also taking one teaspoon of Lauricidin® three times daily, two tablets of ThioDox® twice daily, and metformin 500 mg twice daily. The active ingredient in Lauricidin is monolaurin and it has been found in vitro to destabilize the protective envelope of viruses. This may prevent them from attaching and entering host cells, making infection and replication difficult (click here). The active ingredients in ThioDox increase intracellular glutathione levels. Having adequate glutathione can help protect against excess inflammation and maintain immune function during a serious infection (click here). Metformin has been found to possess anti-microbial and anti-cytokine properties (click here).

UPDATE: March 27, 2020: Some people quickly progress from symptoms to death. An American Airlines flight attendant died while awaiting the COVID-19 test results (click here). If you have symptoms suggestive of COVID-19, what should you do? Get tested, stay at home, wait for test results, and if positive, treat? Or, treat while awaiting test results? But, what if the test results come back negative? Do you stop treatment given that the test has a false-negative rate of 10-15% (click here)? If you have symptoms, I recommend treatment. Otherwise, you may risk death or organ damage.

UPDATE: March 28, 2020: Sneeze droplets have been found to travel up to 26 feet (click here). To be safe, does social-distancing need to be increased from 6 feet to >26 feet? Obviously, this is impractical and unenforceable. In my expert medical opinion, more emphasis should be put on treatment.
