Coronavirus Bill Vs Massie KY

Posted on 03/27/2020 7:08:27 AM PDT by LowNslow

Media and Congress have bowels in up roar over Republican Rep Massie may force members of congress to return to Washington for a vote on the Coronavirus bill. The Garbage men are still doing they jobs, young teens are working the Grocery checkout for less than $15.00 an hour. But Congress earning $178,000 a year is afraid of the big bad virus to do their constitutional job to show up and vote.

Constitution requires a quorum for members to pass a bill, not 2 or 3 people yelling Yah then claiming the bill passed by a quorum majority.

Do your job you were elected to do.

Do you also condemn those American sailors, who shot at Japanese aircraft during their attack on Pearl Harbor, for NOT waiting until our Congress had officially “Declared War”?

For your reference:

Pettifogger: a person who is so obsessed with small details that he misses the big picture.

I hoped the bill would fail. Instead of adding 2 trillion to the debt, send everyone back to work and open up these shuttered businesses. Quick, before they are closed permanently.

A lot of small businesses are at the point of ending lease, and selling inventory, cancelling contracts - because with no revenue they can’t pay the bills. This is serious, folks. It takes years or even decades to build up a business - you can’t just turn it off and then turn it back on.

It is way past time to admit the closings were an overreaction. We need to reverse those decisions - and fast! Sure, we can stop shaking hands and touching handrails. We can wash our hands more often. If we have administrative jobs that can be done just as well from home - great. Skip the pointless meetings.

But we should resume going out to restaurants, shopping and entertainment events again. In fact go twice as often for a while to support these hurting businesses.

Just let’s not go out when we are sick, and try to keep our hands to ourselves. Just like we should do every flu season!

We panicked. We overreacted. President Trump’s enemies saw it as a chance to tank the economy before the election. Fine, we got snookered. Panic is contagious. Everybody makes mistakes.

Let’s admit we were wrong and let everyone go back to their jobs - quick while the jobs are still mostly there to go back to.

“Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” (1939)

Filibuster speech - Senator Jefferson Smith Collapses and Filibuster Ends

Mr. Smith: I guess this is just another lost cause, Mr. Paine. All you people don’t know about lost causes. Mr. Paine does. He said once they were the only causes worth fighting for. And he fought for them once, for the only reason any man ever fights for them. Because of just one, plain, simple rule: “Love thy neighbor.”

And in this world today full of hatred, a man who knows that one rule has a great trust. You know that rule, Mr. Paine. And I loved you for it — just as my father did. And you know that you fight for the lost causes harder than for any others. Yes, you even die for them — like a man we both knew, Mr. Paine.

You think I’m licked. You all think I’m licked! Well, I’m not licked! And I’m going to stay right here and fight for this lost cause, even if this room gets filled with lies like these; and the Taylors and all their armies come marching into this place. Somebody will listen to me. Som ...

See every time the DEMS hold up things for the country and we can go on TV and point it in their direction, some stupid grand-standing Republican has to ensure they give the media the talking point on the news: LONE REPUBLICAN HOLDS UP CHECKS FOR HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE STARVING.

And just like that it is done.

Well, that’s one way to lose a re-election.

Of course I don’t and wouldn’t condemn such acts of self-defense.

You are trying to equate two different things.

There is no real reason why congress can’t set up procedures for remote voting.
