In 1918, during the Spanish Flu outbreak, towns were sealed off to travelers, and anyone from outside the town. The town of Cedar Key, Florida is currently so sealed. Law enforcement stops anyone traveling across Number Four Bridge, to check to see if they are from Cedar Key or work there. If not, they are turned back.

There are many examples of quarantine in our nation’s history. Smallpox, polio, scarlet fever, cholera, typhoid fever, etc. I recall many stories regarding them from my grandparents.
