Paper should be about the same as cardboard. It absorbs moisture.

Many coated and hard pressed papers repel moisture fairly well. A rough (very rough) guide might be to test the surface with a little water.

Also, just for fun / a little relief from all this (even tho’ the event was cancelled this spring due to the damn virus):
