Why are bicyclists allowed to ride anywhere they want - out in the country, up in the mountains, etc, but I can't go for a ride in my car the same places?
What reason do city/state officials give for people not being able to get out & enjoy a nice drive?
Because people on bikes keep their actions mostly limited to the neighbourhood.
I don’t agree to the quarantine issue, but I think that’s why.

Don’t know where you live, but I went to the grocery store, the bank to deposit my tax refund, and the post office today. Yesterday I went to Walmart, and got everything I needed, along with toilet paper. I’m living the life!!

Depends on your attitude about your ‘rights’.
I’m in Silicon Valley (where the Shelter in Place thing all began, and is the “model” for all the rest), and one of the suggestions on the official county CV19 webpages is to “Take a hike in one of the Open Space Parks in the foothills.” They are 10 miles or more from where I live, and no way am I going to walk or bike to them. So I’ve driven 3 times so far, with no problem. And once I took the long way home. :)

They absolutely do not. Not where I live. They go for 10-20 mile rides out in the country
My daughter is a nanny for an obstetrician. I told her to have the doctor write her a letter on letterhead just in case she is stopped.
Unless they ask to see the receipt which will show date and time...

Tell them you’re getting groceries, gas, or work at Amazon or Walmart. Make yourself a little fake ID for a store (you can find them online). F**k these jack booted thugs.
I went by an open space park last week. There was a ranger sitting in a truck blocking the entrance to the parking lot. wth? I suppose if you rode there on a bicycle it would be fine.
Some do, sure.
However, those are physical freaks. :)
Most don’t ride in one direction for an hour, just to ride back again.
Maybe 20% of dedicated bicyclists will do what you say they do.
Assume it depends on the State or City and whether you have symptoms and/or have tested positive.
Just one more reason to live in a state like Arizona where we even have a law protecting firearms from Executive Orders.
