Perhaps they're speaking using code words? And maybe the white hats want Ellen to keep posting to keep the rest of the guilty guessing as to who is next, or what all has she told them.
Her friends must realize that street in the video is not where she lives, so to leave the house she is "quarantining" in to go for a walk would look much different. Plus, her videos from her home reveal an ankle monitor beneath her sweat pants so we know she's being detained. Think also of Hanks with the gray, steel door with the bar code on the door jamb. They're being rounded up.
