Americans abandon their parents. Haven housed and cared for a whole bunch of them, I can assure you that the plurality of American Elder care is “[Sibling name] has got it. He is doing a good job.” Or, the nursing home/assisted living place will take care of it.

American adult children spend more time and effort establishing Trusts so they can get the money than they do visiting their old, demented, and sick parents.

We treat our elders—as a cohort, very poorly.
