CA STILL below 2,000 cases.
Why such disparity with other states?
CA has been the gateway to China for decades.

I thought they quit testing a week or so ago.
Vitamin D3 levels?
Much less use of mass transit in CA than the eastern seaboard states. That’s a big factor.
They stopped testing in LA County. You have to be severely sick to get tested there. Mayors are coming down with it. Will be our next New York.
One thing is working in our favor. The USA is just so damn big. With limited travel what we are seeing are hot spots which Brix referred to as granular. So we dont have a National Emergency we have umpteen regional hot spots. We have to treat it as a National Emergency unless you want to m obilize the 82nd and quarantine hot spots. That would really raise eyebrows but I would consider it.
Apologies for violating your space but I thought you might like some good news.
“Why such disparity with other states?”
Didn’t LA simply stop testing?
disparity is for several reasons
1) airlifts into Calif bases raised awareness back in early Feb.
2) proximity to Wash/Oregon raised awareness in late Feb.
3) mandatory quarantines for over 12K int’l travelers thru airports
4) travel bans: China, Asia, Japan, Italy, etc.
5) strong southern border deterred disease flow
6) Republicans and non-urban folks have more common sense than younger city folk
It’s slow testing. Oregon has the same problem. State testing statistics mean nothing for that reason. Use only the national totals.
