No one is saying you have to go to work. What you want is the government being the nanny state telling you what to do.
Most cases are mild.
If you choose to stay home, fine. Don’t take that choice away from others.

“No one is saying you have to go to work.”

Look at it this way: If you can’t provide reasonable protections to the critical infrastructure workforce, then you have essentially broken the social contract.

What are the consequences of that?

“Social contract arguments typically posit that individuals have consented, either explicitly or tacitly, to surrender some of their freedoms and submit to the authority (of the ruler, or to the decision of a majority) in exchange for protection of their remaining rights or maintenance of the social order.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_contract

Even if you can’t sympathize with the moral arguments against a “burn through” approach to dealing with the virus, can you sympathize with this?

You haven't accepted the new new yet. You are still bargaining.

The world you knew is not going to be the same when this burns out in 18 months.

Blame the Chinese if you have to blame. Blame yourself if you failed to prepare and thought the world would always be the same.

The numbers you are seeing today are from infections a couple of weeks ago. Can you imagine two weeks from now?

Heading out will create greater infection. Will you spread the disease to others who will die? Think about it. People who are dead or dying won't enjoy the other side of the new world when it comes.

But then the mild cases can transmit to other people who will then carry it home to Grandma. Teleworking is our friend nowadays.
