Nope. I'm saying that taking a long time is his point.
To be concise, his message can be compressed into saying that anything you wish to master will require ten thousand hours of effort -- whether it be playing the violin or piano, or learning to skateboard effectively.
Ten thousand hours is a very long time, particularly to a child. But anyone who wants to be an Olympic-class athlete will have to expend at least that level of effort and dedication.
But it works for older people too. If you want to learn German or Greek, at least you now know the price of entry; it's time and effort. A lot of both.
