Made it to Walmart and back, and they were doing inventory. The store was closed for six hours and I don’t know why they had to start it at 0600, when the old folks come in. By the time I got to the check-out lane the entry was filled with three people, so had to go the full length of the row in order to come at it from the other way.
On the way home, a car pulled out in front of me, evidently not realizing how close I was in the dark, and because it’s a hilly two-lane road, I was with him/her to the stop sign which is where I turn to come home. In between him turning in front of me, and my right-hand turn, there were several hills. I try to get a running start on them downhill so I don’t have to make the engine work so hard before I get to the crest. He hit the brakes going down. Both hills. The second one is the longest, so of course, I didn’t make it nearly as far this time. Still, I got home OK.
While I was waiting for Walmart to open, I watched the headlights of the cars across the valley, climbing up that steep grade to the cut-off into St George and thought how easy they made it look!
Consolation? No steep hills where I’m going... ;o]
“Cheated Death Again,” as we say around here. Speaking of which, I should plan a Driving Adventure.
