I didn’t know either until I decided to join “Daughters of the Utah Pioneers,” and at the first meeting, I asked the question. The answer was rudely given by an older lady, but I thanked her and went on with my day.
It’s like the “Daughters of the American Revolution.” You have to write about an incident that an ancestor had during that time in history before you can be accepted into the group.
I’m sure you’ve heard of the singing group, Sons of the Pioneers. They really were, and whether they were officially sons of Utah Pioneers, I don’t know. But I know there is an organization called “Sons of the Utah Pioneers.”
I think it’s more a status thing, these days, for both groups.
That’s every interesting. I am familiar with the Sons of the Pioneers, but I didn’t know it was Utah Pioneers. I thought it was just general.
I can't trace my family back much further than the mid-19th century though, when my ancestors from Wurtemberg Germany settled in antebellum Flatbush.
