I took some canned goods for the food bank up to Mint Hill, to my friends where I stay in their house when I go on my private vacation. She’s contacting “Loaves & Fishes” every week to find out what they need, notifying parishioners, collecting the items, and hauling them to the distribution center. We talked for a few minutes, from a safe distance. They’re ready for normal life again, too.

Then I went to Publix to get Sicilian lemon juice, which was always taken by that other resident who doesn’t live here any more. I like it on my steamed vegetables. I also got fried chicken, enough for the five regular family members, and there was enough, because another party who hadn’t been seen all day didn’t emerge when takeout food was sensed. (Jake showed up, but not fast enough.)

I’ve got stuff I should do, but I’m thinking I’d rather go hide under a blanket with Jake.

A nap under a blanket with a cat is probably an excellent idea! I hope you did it!

After the errands this morning, the day went downhill and I’m still a little on the scattered side. Lin’s didn’t have lemon zest (which I prefer, because it keeps) but they had some very nice lemons. I don’t even know where to look for something like Sicilian lemon juice, though I think I’ll check Walmart next time I go. Probably after you get back.

I like lemon juice on some vegetables, but these days, without family to cook for, my taste buds have gone on perma-hold.

Maybe, if I feel up to it, I’ll make the lemon bars tomorrow. Probably not early enough for you to take some with you for the trip, but... If they turn out well, I’ll give you the recipe.
