Things suck. I spent six hours in a ER yesterday with my wife. Ended up she had a twisted colon. Emergency surgery last night. I was able to be with her up to surgery. Now I am out for the duration. They ended up taking out her entire right side of her colon.

So, now we have pancreatic cancer, a colostomy bag, and the remaining chemo. But, I still smile.

The experience in the hospital was that of a locker room before the big game. Except, the big game was being played upstairs. The ICU floor was full. The telemetry floor (other “care” floors.) was full...built out as ICU.

Another floor was being transitioned today.

The ER nurses I spoke with were flu bro’s two weeks ago. Not any more. They were scared. That was the word they used. One just said, “All these people coming in intubated.”

I know it’s anecdotal. But since my wife and I both worked for the larger health system there was some “talking shop.” They are not—at the corporate direction—not releasing any numbers. Which is cool. But they are talking floors.

So, my wife gets to stay in that hell hole for 3-5 more days.

There is more stuff I will talk about on other posts, but it’s pretty identifiable. The nurses took pity on this white haired 60 year old weeping on the bench outside the ER and snuck me in. I would hate get them in Dutch with the hospital.
