Field report:
We are having a real snowstorm here in northern CT—the forecasters said maybe an inch, won’t stick to roads.
My car thinks differently... :-)
I visited the UPS store. They are open as an “essential” business. They had a sign on the door indicating only four people were allowed in the store at a time with six foot social distancing required.
There was only one other customer and we kept a good distance from each other.
The big commuter bus stop in the suburb was totally empty—normally there are no parking spaces left.
The roads had some traffic, but it was lighter than usual—we had an easy winter and folks seem to have forgotten how to drive in the snow.
The plows were just starting to come out and play—the forecast totally fooled them. Roads in my area had a good inch of snow on them that had not been touched by a plow—and it is still snowing hard.
Thank you so much for the field report - Ive been curious where you live. Im north of Seattle, 30 miles south of the Canadian border on I-5. I transport bulk quantity propane for a living, so Im an essential business. My semi weighs 105,500 pounds loaded.
Snow was only a couple of days this year, Im sorry youre getting snow still. (Snow is really good for my business!) Snow here in normal times is like tactical nuclear war. One inch closes this area, schools and businesses. I was born and raised in South Dakota, so I find this hilarious....
Traffic here in Seattle has gone from one of the worlds 10 worst, to easy this week. I can drive thru Seattle anytime of day and not slow down.
We started testing out here early, thanks to the Seattle Flu Project, and our numbers arent going crazy - I worry about the entire Eastern Seaboard.
Please stay safe, and thank you so much for all of the info you provide on these threads.
