This is what we’ve been trying to say for a month now.

The percent this or that doesn’t really matter. The only question is do we have enough hospital beds, icu beds and ventilators for whoever needs them when they’re needed. Including heart attacks, strokes, accident victims, traumatic childbirths, etc.

And for this we took much abuse over ‘it’s just a bad cold’.

Replace “a bad cold” with “another flu”, and that would be me. The thing is, both are correct. They are not mutually exclusive. The problem is that folks are focusing on one aspect and ignoring another. And when the flu kills far more than this was killing, the case for limiting the SPEED of the spread was not being made very well.

I was a late comer to the idea regarding why we need slow (rather than prevent) the spread.
