Let’s think the question through — if they had the antidote and could have given it to their people as soon as the epidemic struck, why didn’t they give it ASAP?

The CCP has killed many 10s of millions of their own people and not batted an eye or apologized to the world/their people. So I have no illusions as to their regard for the lives of their own people.
That said, I don’t think this was something they had an antidote for, though it may have originate out of a military lab.

You have no clue to what communists do/have done to their people.
I don’t think they have an antidote, but if they did they wouldn’t necessarily give it to all of their citizens.
There is a massive population problem for the communists in china. Losing a small fraction to a disease woulnd’t bother them for one second. Regardless if they have a cure or not.

Um, it certainly does? Tiananmen ring any bells? Great Leap Forward? Red August? Uighur camps? Catholics?
While I doubt China used the virus as an excuse to kill off a bunch of people, I don;t doubt that they would be willing to do so, if they knew they could control it. And, I doubt they have the expertise required to reliably craft an antidote/anti-virus to protect only certain people.
