I’m just going to throw in that “Ender’s Game” was a great book, and a great movie.

The critics panned the movie horribly because Orson Scott Card (author) is considered anti-LGBTQWERTY.

AGAIN: This was a GREAT Sci-Fi movie if you like that sort of thing. It got even worse treatment from the (mostly Marxist, mostly gay) critics than another great, more recent movie: DEATH WISH with Bruce Willis.
