Rep. Mark DeSaulnier (D-Calif.) is in critical condition due to complications of a non-COVID-19 related pneumonia after fracturing a rib Friday.

He was admitted to a Washington, D.C., hospital where he appeared to be in stable condition. Physicians determined he was negative for the coronavirus.

However, a statement later tweeted from the congressman’s Twitter account to his followers revealed that his health had taken a turn for the worse.

“Unfortunately, congressman DeSaulinier’s condition has deteriorated and he is in critical condition,” a statement posted on the congressman’s Twitter account Saturday read.

DeSaulnier fell near a U.S. House office building during one of his regular runs in the capital. As a result of the fall, DeSaulnier, who was elected to Congress in 2014, was not able to vote on the House coronavirus stimulus package.

“The doctors are doing everything they can to care for the Congressman,” the statement added.

Hmm, he's been in politics for a long time. Probably votes the wrong way all the time, still I don't wish him ill. I wish he wakes up and smells the covfefe. Wow, he's 68, has leukemia, and still running. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_DeSaulnier Mark James DeSaulnier (/dəˈsoʊnieɪ/;[1] born March 31, 1952) is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 11th congressional district since 2015. The district includes most of Contra Costa County, a suburban county in the East Bay. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served in the California State Legislature, representing the 7th State Senate district from 2008 to 2015 and 11th State Assembly district from 2006 to 2008. He also served as a Contra Costa County Supervisor (1994–2006) and on the Concord City Council (1991–1994). .... In May 2016, DeSaulnier announced that the previous year, he was diagnosed chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and had undergone chemotherapy.[3] While the cancer was described as incurable, DeSaulnier said he would still seek re-election that year.[3]

This doesn’t sound good. Does anybody know how he got a fracture? Maybe it was a pathologic fracture.
