Cuomo just went hysterical re ventilators - he is promised 400 ventilators when he needs 20K. Wants the Feds to nationalize a company to make them, not wait for industries to voluntarily produce as DJT says they are doing..

IMO...

DEMOCRATS are tying to force PRESIDENT TRUMP into nationalizing companies to make him look like a DICTATOR.

Gee, in 2015, Cumono was more than happy to let death panels handle the problem. See We Didn't Have to Have Ventilator Shortage-Leaders Chose Not to Prep For Pandemic

I despair that their duplicity ever be highlighted on the nightly news.

As we find ourselves quarantined at home, we are witnessing the economy retool to create masks, ventilators and hand sanitizers.

So I was curious were there other meanings for ventilator (as there were for mask) besides the obvious one.

______________________________________________

ventilator (n.)
1743, agent noun from ventilate. Latin ventilator meant “a winnower.”

_________________________________________________

winnow (v.)
late 14c., from Old English windwian “to fan, winnow,” from wind “air in motion, paring down,” see wind (n.1). Cognate with Old Norse vinza, Old High German winton “to fan, winnow,” Gothic diswinþjan “to throw (grain) apart.”

____________________________________________

Literally the first thing that came to mind reading this was separating the wheat from the chaff.

Matthew 3:12
His winnowing fork is in His hand to clear His threshing floor and to gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
