Rev. Josh King, the lead pastor of Second Baptist Church, reported that members of his church think the coronavirus is a hoax promoted by liberals. He told the Washington Post that some of Arkansas's parishioners were willing to go to great lengths to prove there was nothing to fear about the COVID-19 virus.

Why would anyone do this stuff? I love God and the baby Jesus. But the Lord doesn’t want us to be stupid. Or any more stupid than he made us.

This pastor sounds like a snake handler. Hey lets all be stupid and tempt God, that will show everybody! There is faith and then there is blind stupid.
There was a snake handling church in my area and they even made it to a TV show on NatGeo years ago. Pretty much all the pastors got bit and died or finally quit handling snakes when they started losing fingers and spouses who said they were behaving irrationally, stop or I take the kids and leave. That being said if God told me to pick the serpent, I would, but he didn’t and I ain’t!!!
For the actual record.... Don't lick the floor. There is a threat. There is a valid health concern. It is serious. There is hysteria. There is a feeling of panic. Decisions are hard. Pastors are caught in between. God is good.

This guy might have snakes in some of his services, too. (Sure giving Baptists a bad name, which I do not appreciate!)
On Sunday, our preacher announced a few modifications. No passing offering plates, pick up your own bulletin instead of having it handed to you, spread out in the pews (which works for us since we’re a small congregation), definitely the end of “howdys and handshakes” time (thank GOD!), etc. Bottom line: No floors will be licked as far as I know.
I notice this is the Second Baptist who think this way, which I guess means that even the First Baptist across town think this is crazy. Hopefully the Third Baptist don’t try to one up the Second Baptist.
LOL! Hope you’re right. Then there’s a Baptist church in my mom’s town — “Seventh Day Baptist”, who worship on Saturdays. I wonder how they’ll handle this. I guess they used to be big in that neck of the woods, but are slowly disappearing.

King, whose church hosts more than 1,100 worshipers each week, opted to hold standard services with some additional precautions. The entire church will be sanitized before and after services. Additionally, greeters are expected to hold open doors for visitors to limit the number of people touching doorknobs in the building. They also moved offering plates to the door, rather than following the tradition of passing the plate and asked members not to shake hands or hug during the services or while sharing coffee after worship.
What hypocrites.
If they think it's a hoax, then what are they taking all the precautionary measures for?
