Several nations have done it already. Why is the US immune from it?

Because Trump has decided to let community leaders take the helm. It’s a problem to be solved largely locally.

1. It will be seen as tantamount to martial law.
2. The President can't do this unilaterally, it will get challenged in courts and in congress before enforcement begins.
3. There is no need for it. Corvid-19 is obviously serious, not end of the world serious.
4. Corvid-19 is on par with the 2009 swine flu in terms of deaths and infections.
5. There is a lot of media driven fear mongering because the press hates President Trump.
