Massachusetts Rep. Ayanna Pressley argued now is the time to commute the sentences of some federal prisoners who are vulnerable to the coronavirus outbreak. Pressley, who is a member of the liberal contingent of four women in Congress known as “the Squad,” told Al Sharpton on his MSNBC show Saturday that she and some other Democrats are advocating for the “compassionate” releases of inmates.

For Pressley, I think its somewhat more a black thing than a class-warfare thing. But I could be wrong.

I understand how some of them might think the criminal system comes down harder on them, but a lot of people are in prison because they are a hazard on the street.
Yup. Release people whose immune systems are weak and perfect carriers, largely due to their incarceration and health choices, into the healthy population. Makes sense to me. /sarc

There are numerous videos on YT of sentencing hearings where the perp is A-A and the victims are A-A too, and the victims use their "victim impact statements" to beg the judge to show no mercy and lock up the perp for life with no parole, which personally I think is much worse than a straight death sentence.
