I dont see anything like that being proposed, and I hope it never happens. But think about that. They close schools, churches, no gatherings of over 50 people, etc. But what most likely will spread it MORE than anything is interstate commerce. Rest homes and schools I can agree with, but to panic like they have? NO
Agree. These new measures are doomed to fail. Nature will work it’s course and in a week or two we’ll be at 100 or so fatalities per day. Then what? Domestic travel ban? Hello, bankrupt airline industry. But given they way the airlines and their stocks are acting today that cake is probably already baked.

I grew up about five miles (as the ICBM flies) from a significant SAC base at Westover. Around here, prep for a nuclear attack was practically nothing. We knew we were fried.
This doesn’t come close. But still, slowing this down is the best thing we can hope for. And pretty much the only thing an individual or family can do.

It’s not clear where Patient 31 became infected with the virus, but in the days before her diagnosis, she travelled to crowded spots in Daegu, as well as in the capital Seoul. On February 6 she was in a minor traffic accident in Daegu, and checked herself into an Oriental medicine hospital. While at that hospital, she attended services at the Daegu branch of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, on February 9 and again on February 16.
In between those visits, on February 15, doctors at the hospital said they first suggested she be tested for the coronavirus, as she had a high fever. Instead, the woman went to a buffet lunch with a friend at a hotel. In an interview with local newspaper JoongAng Ilbo, the woman denied that doctors had advised her to be tested. As her symptoms worsened, however, doctors say they once again advised her to be tested. On February 17, she finally went to another hospital for the test. The next day, health authorities announced she was the country’s 31st confirmed case. In only a matter of days, those numbers had soared as hundreds of people at the Shincheonji Church and surrounding areas tested positive.

you know, that’s a very good point you brought up Bgill. People shopped and have their food, now they need to take some down time and turn it into ready-to-eat meals that just need reheating.

It is pretty clear that infected persons with mild to no symptoms can spread COVID-19, in the 2nd week, very effectively.
On a personal basis, I (wifey too) HAVE to help out with my Mom, who’s 89 and fragile. I can limit my own exposure, but not entirely. Plus I already have some “bug” (almost certainly not COVID-19) and don’t want to expose Mom. IMO, this country needs to crank out 100 million masks, yesterday.
oh good. She can go to jail for 7 years for intentionally hiding her infection from Chinese flight crews.
When will China be sending planes to airlift their citizens out of SF and LA? They should hurry up.
The HEB here is stocks tp at 8 am. When it’s gone, they don’t restock even though they have a ton in the back. Too darned bad for people who are working at 8 am or who had to wait on the red light and got there at 8:01.
