Exactly. This complete halt to economic activity all over the nation is likely to crash our economy. The virus is a lot more deadly than the flu, but I do think we need to get a grip on the risk. Every day 7,000 people die in America and every day about 20,000 people die in China. So far, about 5,000 people have died from covid 19 all over the world. So far 39 Americans have died. More will die, of course. However, most of the people will most likely be in high risk groups. The decisions being made reflect the trade-offs of saving lives and crashing the entire economy....

You can't compare annual average figures to something growing exponentially, that is, doubling every 5 days.

Italy shows that once hospitals are overrun, the death rate will go from 3.5% up above 6%.
