I got a 2nd Census notice today. We were told we may get a few just ignore the extras. They screwed up and knew they screwed up ? or redundancy is good, again?
I got that American Community Survey, I think for 1990 or 2000. Back then it was a hundred dollar fine for not filling it out so I took a shot.
I only identified how many lived in the house plus race. The instructions for entering race went something like this: “please use one letter per box and enter R A C E so that’s what I did. I entered RACE.
They sent people out to the house to get more info. I caught one with a measuring wheel, walking off the property. They finally stopped coming...too funny.
Today, Census help are getting paid 29 bucks an hour...nice job for a retiree...
A census taker showed up at my rural home in 2010. When it came to the question of “race” she handed me a card with a list on it and asked me to choose which one was appropriate. I looked at it and most were “country of origin”, not race. I pointed that out & she got a panicked look. I finally told her my race is “American”. She burst out laughing and said that no one had ever told her that. She wrote it down.
