I didn’t like him either. My youngest son liked him because he seemed “calm” lol. But no matter the explanation, I could never get over Mr McFeely. I mean for cryin’ out loud they could have used Mr McAnythingelse.

He was passive! After his soft phrases, Miss Somebody would come on like a drill sergeant dominating the whole plot. I told my toddlers (because their mother wanted them to watch) that Mr. Rogers was nice television but not realistic in life, but that was the direction television wanted the public to believe - but don't believe it. Men and women, mom and dad, were equal in a relationship.

Naturally their mother wasn't there - :) - and I had no idea that they knew what I was talking about... still, dad tries. (my kids recently reached about 50 years old. Looks like at least one got it.)
